Various 'City To City 3 Mixed By DJ Deep'

The modest marketing for DJ Deep's third city-hopping compilation says that it is 'definitely not a classic house compilation'. That maybe so, but it acts as if it is, turning over a brilliant selection of house music recorded with first principles. That means we get several vocals of the highly uplifting variety - see Traxx's 'XTC 4 Luv' for details - a smattering of serene strings here and there, some chunky beats, and the odd deep treasure, such as Kerri Chandler's wonderful 'Pong'. Deep paces and mixes his set with real skill, the extra bonus being that many of his discoveries are available in unmixed form as well. A sublime mix for hot summer nights, it'll have you plotting your next dancefloor move long before the finish.
